The legendary Jambalaya Festival Of Rhythm And Dance returns with 3 nights and 2 days of music and dance workshops, live performances, theatre, art installations, international food, crafts, DJ's, bands, parties and more.
Jambalaya creates a festive community where you can connect with like-minded people, learn new skills through interactive workshops and see some of the hottest talent from across the globe. We have hand-picked the most inspiring and dynamic artists and tutors from New Zealand and beyond, for you to experience in one place at one time. Whether you have always had an inkling to try something new or you are already a mover and shaker, wishing to further your skills, Jambalaya offers something for everyone.
Workshops for 2012 include: Tango, Swing, Beat Boxing, Hip Hop, Ukulele, Belly Dance, Burlesque, Salsa, Contemporary dance, A Capella Singing, Samba Drumming, Zouk, Maori dance, African dance & drumming, Capoeira and many more. Check out our teachers page for more info.
If workshops aren't your thing, there is an entire 'festivalscape' to discover - explore the market zone, sample international cuisine, see live performance in our mini theatre, musicians and performers will be playing throughout the festival, relax with a free massage in our wellness zone, sip chai in a Moroccan tent, get creative in the costume making zone, families will love the fun interactive kids zone, camp onsite or rent a tipi, see the latest and greatest from local emerging artists and if you still have energy left after all that... party with live bands and DJs deep into the night.
Due to popular demand Jambalaya is back at Easter. Allowing you more time to arrive safely, party harder and recuperate for longer. Set in the beautiful bush-surrounded Corban Estate Arts Centre, only 15 minutes drive from the city and fully weather proofed to ensure you and your crew have the most memorable Easter ever!
To all our lovely regulars, welcome back! And to all those who are yet to join us, we welcome you with open arms – come join the party!
